The Moon with and without the DACO shutter
Both these images of the Moon were taken on October 17, 1996 with the 12" LX200. They were taken less than one minute apart. The image on the left or top shows the advantage of having a shutter which can be closed during image readout. The image on the right or bottom did not use the shutter and was destroyed by the image of the Moon falling onto the array and bleeding down into the storage area during the readout cycle.
